Steve's story

Steve lived in a hostel in Skelmersdale before moving to Coops Foyer in Wigan. He started on an electrical course at College and gained new friends and built friendships. The Young Enterprise Scheme in the Foyer helped him to learn web design and along with six other young people Steve formed a company called 'Insite' Internet. It was registered with Young Enterprise and had one working financial year. Steve has left the foyer (18 months ago) and has been living independently with his girlfriend. They now have a baby. The Foyer assisted them to find a house and move. Steve is presently out of work but has been for interviews to become a freelance web designer. He is currently toying with ideas of either building computers or going into web design. He talked about moving to Newcastle to start a business with one of his friends, building computers. On reflection Steve feels like moving to the Foyer has enhanced his life chances giving him access to training and employment opportunities.
