The
Victorian Schoolroom enacted a school lesson from 100 years ago.
"The teacher would have been more strict and the lessons would have been longer and harder." (Elizabeth) "I wouldn't have liked this school as the teacher was very strict. I would be sent home for laughing. Didn't like singing in class." (Katherine) |

| Trencherfield Mill contains a working steam engine plus examples of old mill machines to illustrate work in the mills.
"Horrible. Very young children worked in the mills. I imagine they would be tired and ill but would still have to go to work. In later years they got an education but only for half a day. It caused deafness because of the noise." (Katherine) "The working hours would be long, ages about 7-11 small children pushed under the machines and they lived poorly." (Elizabeth) |
