As a result of this Lady Mabel was made to walk barefooted from Haigh Hall to a cross in Standishgate |

This is the cross where Lady Mabel walked to it is now known as Mabs Cross. Today some people see the ghost of Lady Mabel walk from Haigh Hall to this cross. This cross is now placed outside Mabs Cross Primary School due to road widening. |
