Abram Morris Dancers

In 1984 Geoff Hughes placed an advert in the local paper asking if anyone was interested in reviving the world-famous Abram Morris Dance, which had died out in 1901. Every since, the dance has been performed on the last Saturday in June on the historic Morris Dancers Ground in Abram, which is located between Ashton-in-Makerfield and Leigh.

We follow the Morris Dancing team as they tour around Abram, Bickershaw, Hindley and Platt Bridge, performing the dance in a variety of settings.

This short film is an excerpt from 'Our Heritage' - a DVD celebrating the history of Wigan Borough which is available to buy for £10.
